This place does not disappoint on all fronts. Food, ambiance, and coffee !! Food is seasoned to perfection (not too much, not too little). The first bite makes you put your fork back down and roll your eyes with delight. My friend had the salmon with grits and fried green tomatoes. My (made to order) dish was an omelet with lump crab meat and blackened shrimp. That came with a 3 green salad with a sweet vinaigrette dressing. 2 sides of miniature waffles with lightly powdered sugar arrived with a raspberry drizzle on the plate. (It's the little things.) We also got a "to-go" dish. The coffee alone was Ample off-street parking.

The food was so good!! Rich, flavorful comfort food that fills you for the day. Cocktails were tasty, and Jax (or Jack?) was stellar for brunch today! Stars of the show were the gumbo and chicken and waffles. Busy and noisy on a Sunday morning, so come early!

Highly recommended to me and I see why. This place had so many delicious looking choices. I really liked my food but was eyeballing a lot of other plates too. The playing and presentation of the dishes were "homey" but elegant! I had the Get Your Grits On with blackened salmon. I added 2 over easy eggs on top. The corn emulsion sauce was sooo good. I wished there was more. The grits had great flavor but weren't creamy...and gave more of a mashed potato bite but they were still REALLY GOOD. The fried green tomato was delicious and added a great crunchy freshness to the plate. This restaurant is a must when visiting the city!!! I will be back to try more dishes next time I'm visiting the city.

Miss Shirley's always makes you feel welcome. The staff and atmosphere are friendly and low key. The food is great and a little bit different--enough so that you want to come back and try something new. Their fried green tomatoes are rated Best in Maryland by Southern Living magazine.

We had an excellent experience here. My sister's and I treated my mother to lunch here the day before Mother's Day. They don't take reservations, but luckily we were able to be seated within 5 to 10 minutes despite the restaurant being busy. My sister has a soy and milk allergy and we felt very comfortable here. Our waitress after introducing herself, asked if anyone had allergies without prompting. Then to make sure everything went smoothly, two managers came in to review the menu and confirm foods were safe for my sister or make adjustments or substitutions to ensure she didn't have any allergen exposure. Our mother said this was the best service she's ever received at a restaurant and that means a lot as she worked in food service for most of her working career. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to any of my friends and to anyone who has any food allergies.

Sister in-law sends everyone here when they visit and I see why, it is an AMAZING brunch spot! They are a busy spot, but wait times flow very well! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. They do a fried deviled egg with seasonal toppings. This one was a hot honey fried chicken deviled egg and they are like crack! Chicken and savory waffles, gumbo with grits, stuffed French toast, all were delicious. Will definitely be coming back!

Where do I even start? From the moment we arrived, the experience at Miss Shirley’s Cafe was incredible. Despite how busy this place gets, we were seated almost immediately—a rare treat! The staff was friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations on what to try. We decided to split the Fried Chicken, Biscuit & Gravy Omelet, which was absolutely massive, and the French Toast of the Month: Cinnamon Oat French Toast topped with yogurt, strawberries, and a mouth-watering cinnamon sauce. Both dishes were phenomenal and so filling that we had leftovers to enjoy for breakfast the next day. The atmosphere was lively, and even the manager stopped by to check on us, which added a personal touch. Miss Shirley’s is the total package—amazing food, great service, and a welcoming vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back!
